A Flock of Fancy Flies

I've spent the last few days skipping around my studio painting butterfly wings. I'm making a whole flock of them, I mean a gaggle, ummm a herd? Does anybody know what a large group of butterflies is called?

Flavor of the Week

After making a strawberry sprinkle ice cream cone door hanger, I came to a sudden realization. Not everyone likes strawberry ice cream. I want to reach a much larger audience, people of all ice cream loving backgrounds. I'm starting small (there are a LOT of ice cream flavors, folks, I don't want to overwhelm myself.) If you favor the refreshing taste of mint chocolate chip, or the sweet flavor of chocolate cherry, I now have both of those cone available in my shop. Show your colors by hanging the best flavor on your door (you know which one is the best...)

Easter Flowers

I'm a little late posting this, considering Easter was four whole days ago now, but bear with me! Easter is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. The sun is shining, the air smells like spring, and beautiful pastel colors are everywhere. In celebration of Easter (and pastels) I made some simple flower pots to share with my family members, and now I'm sharing photos of them with all of you out there on the internet.

Happy belated Easter to all who celebrate!

Summer Sun

I just completed this summer sun door hanger today. It's a little abstract, has hints of metallic gold and bronze, and is, of course, very bright and sunny!

The paintings on each sun will vary somewhat (the circles of color may be bigger, smaller, or in a slightly different place.) So each door hanger will be unique and one of a kind!

I'm hoping to have this listed in my Etsy shop by the end of the week. I will definitely also have some of these available at my spring and summer craft shows.

Front Page Treasury

I had an exciting morning yesterday. I woke up around 6am, compulsively logged into Etsy, and I realized that one of the treasuries I had curated was displayed on the front page of the website!

For those who are not obsessed with everything about Etsy; a treasury is a collection of items from vendors on Etsy. Anybody with an Etsy account can make a treasury. A LOT of treasuries get made each day. Every hour the front page of Etsy's main website displays a different treasury. Having one of your items displayed on the front page is one of the ultimate awesome things that can happen for an Etsy seller, because your creation will get a TON of views (and hopefully sales) during that hour. Not every treasury makes it to the front page, and as a matter of fact most don't make it. While the treasury I created did not feature any of my items, it was still pretty amazing to see my picks on Etsy's main landing page.

I'm pretty excited about all the fantastic items I featured in this particular treasury, so I wanted to share it here. Click on the picture to get a closer look at some of these beautiful things!

Butterfly Frenzy

I have two additional colors now available for my butterfly door hanger: citrine/tangerine and blush/orchid. I wanted to use some fancy more exciting color words for my creations, because pink/purple sounds so boring.

There will be more door hangers coming this month. I've got plans for a sun, a raincloud, and even more. I'm really having a lot of fun with these, and because they're all hand cut the possibilities are endless!

Spring and Summer Door Signs

In a crazy fit of inspiration (and a dire need to use the scroll saw, seriously, I hadn't cut anything with the scroll saw in way. too. long.) I created some fancy new spring and summer door hangings.

I currently have three brand new door hangings available in my Etsy shop (click on the pictures to get a closer look at them in my shop):

My personal favorite is this metallic accented blue and green butterfly.

Jason's favorite is this delicious-looking strawberry ice cream cone (I wonder if he'd be embarrassed that I've told all you lovely readers that he's particularly fond of the prettiest, pinkest, sparkliest thing I've ever made...)

And, finally, I also made this snazzy patriotic door hanger. Something like this is sure to be an important addition to your door decor come July 4th!

I'm planning on having an assortment of door hangings available for purchase at the Schmit Home Solutions spring open house on May 4th from 1pm-6pm (just in time for Mother's Day gift buying), so if you'd like to check 'em out in person make sure you stop by! More info about the open house is available here: http://kristirschmit.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html
